Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) – Wave Class

The Ferry Wave at Dollymount is ideal for beginners to learn to surf on a stand up paddleboard.

This class can be booked individually or as part of our 3 lesson course. The course consists of 1 flat water class in the Grand Canal Dock, 1 open water class in Dublin Bay and 1 wave class at the Ferry Wave on Dollymount Beach.

The price per person for this class is €45. The price for our full SUP course of 3 lessons is €120.

Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) – Flat water introduction

This is a class that can be booked individually or as part of our 3 lesson course. The course consists of 1 flat water class in the Grand Canal Dock, 1 open water class in Dublin Bay and 1 wave class at the Ferry Wave on Dollymount Beach. We teach in small groups and provide all the equipment including wetsuits and buoyancy aids. We have changing and shower facilities and offer free parking for customers.

During this flat water class you will learn the following manoeuvres:

- handling your stand up paddleboard correctly
- entering the water safely
- standing up on your board from kneeling
- keeping your balance on the board (kneeling/standing)
- basic paddle techniques including back paddling
- basic turns
- step back pivot turn
- side stroke turn
- dismounting from the board

Windsurfing Class (Beginner) – Grand Canal Dock

Our windsurfing courses are ideal for beginners of all ages. The Grand Canal Basin is the ideal environment to learn and practice windsurfing due to its flat water and the confined space.

We teach in small groups with qualified instructors and provide all the equipment including wetsuits and buoyancy aids. We have changing and shower facilities and offer free parking for customers.

Taster Session 2.5 hours for €65

We offer taster sessions for €65, which is a once off 2.5 hour windsurfing lesson, great for when you have not decided yet whether windsurfing is for you or if you do not want to commit to the full course.
During the lesson the instructor will talk to you about basic safety and show you how to rig your gear, get going on the board, balance/counterbalance, turn around and come back safely to the starting point. The classes run either on Saturday or Sunday mornings from 10am-12.30pm. Please check our calendar.
Full beginners course for €220

We also offer a full beginners course which consists of 4 2.5 hour lessons for €220.
By the end of this course you will be able to sail across a short stretch of water, turn around and return safely to your starting point. The first two classes take place in the Grand Canal Dock, the last two classes take place in the Malahide Estuary.

The classes run either on Saturday or Sunday mornings from 10am-12.30pm. Please check our calendar.

The open water class is ideal for people with previous SUP experience, for example our Flat water introduction class. Location tbc.

During this 2 hour class the instructor will teach you important skills when stand up paddleboarding in open water, like:

- identifying safe entry and exit points
- weather forecasting and planning your paddling
- the tides – how they work and anticipating how they effect your paddling
- paddle techniques for exposed locations
- board control in choppy waters

And last but not least, the instructor will show you that stand up paddleboarding is an amazing way to explore the shores of Dublin Bay while at the same time improving your core strength and increasing your fitness levels.
