What a great weekend! There were so many different things going on, from SUP racing, to the Slalom Championship in Kerry, the Battle for the Bay and the Docklands Summer Festival in the Grand Canal Basin.
Let’s start with the Docklands Summer Festival. We offered two days of kayak and SUP “Come & Try It” Sessions in the Inner Basin for only €5. The sessions booked out quickly and everyone loved going for a paddle in the sunshine – we had customers going out in just their bikinis!
Apart from the Surfdock sessions, there were food stalls, street performances, duck races, dragon boat displays. One of the highlights of the weekend were the wakeboard demonstrations by the Irish National Team generously sponsored by Waterways Ireland.
Team Riders David O’Caoimh, Jonny Crawford and Lindsay Whelan pulled out all the stops with some incredible acrobatics. A special thanks also should go to Mastercraft Ireland for providing a couple of beautiful boats for the event.
It was incredible to see the guys getting close to the quay wall to high five and spray the spectators with wake. The grand finale saw David backflipping over Jonny to the cheers of the crowd.

We’re going to put up more information about the other events of the weekend as we go along.
