Summer in the dock is in full swing with our kids camps, SUP classes and windsurfing lessons all very busy. The uptake in beginners windsurfing classes this year has been incredible and it will be great to see all these new windsurfers as they progress on in the sport.
We will be organising some more advanced windsurfing classes over the next few weeks in conjunction with Dave Garvey at DMG Sailsports. If you're interested to join the group, send a mail to courses@surfdock.ie.

Our Summer Camp for children between 8-16 years kicked off in the first week of June and the response has been great.
For one week the children practice sailing, kayaking, SUP and of course, windsurfing. It's a fantastic opportunity for them to practice water sports, make new friends and above all have lots of fun! Our qualified instructors make sure that it's an enjoyable experience for everyone taking part and the safe surroundings of the dock is the ideal location. The camp will run every week until the end of August.

New this year – Beginners Kite Surfing Lessons
Due to the high demand, we are now working in conjunction with two great Kiting instructors to offer lessons around Dublin Bay. Lindsay has years of teaching under her belt in tropical Kenya, and Kris is a recently qualified BKSA instructor who has been heavily involved with the UCD kitesurfing club over the last couple of years.
Poolbeg and Sandymount are our main operating areas but we are fully mobile and will move where the conditions dictate. We offer everything from a 3hour intro session, to a full beginner course taking place over 12hours. During this you will learn everything you need to know to get going. Our fully qualified instructors will make this experience fun and safe for you.

We would like to welcome Eoin O'Connell, the newest member and first kite surfer in our Surfdock Team. Eoin has been kiting for 6 years, and can be found ripping up the waves, or flying high in the skies above Dublin's most popular kite spots - Dollymount, Burrow Beach or Sutton.
A super keen surfer, SUP'er, kayaker and sailor, Eoin also windsurfed back in the day. Basically like all of us... he's a guy who is happiest when in the water!
Winner of 2011 'Battle of the Bay', Eoin prefers the freeriding style of kiting, especially kitesurfing on the Atlantic coast, and has a wealth of knowledge to share on every aspect of the sport.

3D HERO System -
The 3D HERO System allows you to combine two 1080p HD HERO cameras into a single housing to record 3D video and photos while simultaneously recording in 2D. A synchronization cable plugs into the rear HERO Port on both cameras to join them together, enabling both cameras to record video and photos in perfect synchronization.
The included 3D editing software—GoPro Cineform Studio—makes it easy to convert your 3D HERO System footage into viewable 3D files you can watch on your computer, online at sites like YouTube, and on your 2D or 3DTV at home.

Made to prevent "surfer's ear" Sorky is a new type of ear plugs made specifically for surfers.
This hi-tech plug is equiped with a membrane that lets you hear the sounds of the outside world whilst your ear drums are protected from coldness agressions!
It's high quality silicone is injected in a cold mold to produce a perfectly shaped plug with ultimate comfort .
They let sounds naturally in, so you would probably have driven all the way back home before you remember to pull them off !
Sorky's ergonomy has been developed using aeronautical super acurate tools, and ONE SIZE FITS ALL EARS !
Despite being intially made for surfers, this would suit swimmers, windsurfers, kitesurfers and generally any one exposed to water below 20°C who would like to avoid getting both of their ears drilled!
Comes in an aluminium storage tube (keyholder).

Slacklining is so much fun!! We got some slacklines in as an extra activity in the Dock, and now we all love it.
Whether enhancing your balance, coordination skills, working on a better core strength, or looking for pure enjoyment,
these are a great investment for the summertime!

First to release news on boards are Quatro, who are avoiding the whole year change, by keeping with existing shapes and colours, but offering an additional new base colour scheme for their hugely popular Keith Teboul and Levi Siver Quads.
If you have been wavesailing around Ireland, you probably will have noticed our young Team-rider Ryan O'Leary ripping it up on his flouro-green KT Quad 69l. The green remains, and in addition the KT is now also available in a flouro-red. Additionally, the Levi Siver Quad (currently in Gold) will also be available in a pretty slick metallic blue.
These boards are available to order now, with delivery in end of August.

K4 fins have proved very popular with our customers, and anyone looking to tweak some extra performance out of their twin fin or quad fin board.
The latest news is that K4 are now available in SLOTBOX too, to suit Starboard, Tabou boards, and now Fanatic 2012 boards.
Currently in development, the K4 team (including our own Oisin VG and Ryan O'Leary) are testing the 3rd generation of Freestyle prototype fins. Initial feedback has been very positive, and the MK1 proto was used by PWA Pro Andy Bubble Chambers to win BWA Freestyle events in the UK, and then onto a great 9th Overall in PWA events in Bonaire and Aruba.
The K4 freestyle will initially be available in 18cm and 20cm, with a 16 also in development, once the final fins have been tested.
Expect the price to be very competitive, as usual from K4 !

Next up in the IWA calendar, the Irish Slalom Series hits Downings beach in Donegal on the 23/24 July for the biggest windsurfing event of the year.
This event traditionally has the biggest fleets, with all the gold fleet battling it out at the top as usual, but more importantly, the biggest silver and youth fleets of any event. It seem like the entire village of Downings takes part in the event, and it's great to see so many kids giving it a go.

We have been stocking these excellent SUP paddles for a few years now, and recently have expanded the range we keep in stock.
These great paddles offer exellent value for money, and performance that is unrivalled.
For the peformance wave SUPer's, the Carbon/Kevlar model is super strong and light, and the full carbon paddle is also availble as a superlight flatwater model, weighing in at under 500 grams!.
