GREAT FUN | IDEAL LOCATION | SAFE ENVIRONMENT

We have been running kids camps in the Grand Canal Dock for more than 20 years and our fully qualified instructors have great experience in working with children and teaching water sports. Our activities are suitable for all children within the age range, with or without any experience in water sports. Our instructor/child ratio is 1:6.

The safe surroundings of the Grand Canal Dock are ideal to learn & practice water sports.

Our camp location is very easy to get to, we’re only 5 minutes from the city centre and in walking distance from the Grand Canal Dock DART station. There is free parking available while dropping off/collecting children.

If you would like to book your child/ren into our camp you can send us an email to courses@surfdock.ie or call us on 01-6683945.

The End of an Era – We’re relocating!

we're relocating

It is with real sadness that after nearly 23 years, we have to announce our departure from our premises on the Naomh Eanna. The ship has been declared unsafe by her owners and so we must bid farewell to our long standing home. Within the next week or so she will be moved into the old gravings docks at the east end of the basin and as far as we know will be dismantled there. A sad end to a significant piece of Irish maritime history.

Over the years, we have had countless visitors call to the shop and tell us their tales of crossings to the Aran Islands. From former crew members to tourists to islanders themselves, they all had great memories of rough and smooth crossings, large quantities of the ‘black stuff’ being drank in the onboard bar and the livestock being winched from the forward hold into the dark atlantic before being swam ashore behind a currach. We have even had a visit from a  couple who told us how they had met for the first time aboard the ship and were still married all these years later. The Naomh Eanna has a very special place in all our hearts and we know many watersports enthusiasts will also feel a little saddened by these recent developments.

We have to look forward though and we are now in the process of setting up facilities on the quayside of the Grand Canal Dock, just a little further up from where our watersports school has traditionally been based. These temporary facilities are the first step to a major redevelopment along Charlotte Quay which will afford us more space but for now we have to downsize and this means clearing the decks and having a SURFDOCK ABANDON SHIP SALE as soon as we are back open and have the new facilities ready.

Everything has to go – we are making room for new stock and will have a huge selection of wetsuits, boards, sails, masts, booms, harnesses, hoods, gloves, boots, books, DVDs and lots of accessories available at unbeatable prices – while stocks last.

All going well, we will be ready to open the doors to our new facilities this coming Saturday, 8th February at 10am. Please help us to spread the word to anyone with an interest in watersports – they’ll be sure to find a bargain at our sale.

All the best,

The Surfdock Team
